
AppleSox Pull Away from Sweets Late in Game One

Wenatchee, WASH - The Walla Walla Sweets (5-5) dropped game one to the Wenatchee Applesox (3-7) by the score of 5-1. The Sweets pitched three different outfielders on the mound in the loss.
The Applesox got out in front in the first on a bases loaded walk. The Sweets then countered with a run in the third on an RBI triple by Ryan Johnston (UC Irvine) to make it 1-1.
Wenatchee came back with a run in the bottom of the third, a run in the sixth and added two more in the eighth to make it 5-1.
Connor Cannon (UC Riverside) started on the mound for the Sweets, but only lasted three innings, walking four, giving up one hit and surrendering two runs. The Sweets then got two innings of relief from Connor Doyle (San Diego), one inning from Zach Weisz (Cal State Fullerton) and two innings from Johnston. All three were outfielders for the Sweets.
The Sweets will try to tie the series tomorrow when they send Bobby Ay (Cal Poly) to the mound.
