AppleSox Add Pitching from WSU and UW

(Wenatchee, WA)-Both sides of the Apple Cup rivalry will be represented on the AppleSox this summer. The team will receive right-handed pitcher Chris McDowell from Washington State University and right-handed pitcher Trevor Dunlap of the University of Washington.
McDowell, from Mount Vernon, has seen action out of the bullpen during his freshman season in Pullman. This spring he is 0-1 with a 5.14 ERA. The 6-foot-7 hurler had an outstanding prep career at Mount Vernon High School, throwing two no-hitters including a perfect game as a senior.
"He fits in well with us," said AppleSox head coach Ed Knaggs. "He is a tall righty with a very good frame that has a ton of potential."
A junior out of Kirkland, Dunlap has made an immediate impact at the University of Washington after transferring from Columbia Basin College. He has a 3.41 ERA and a 1-3 record in his first season with the Huskies. From an athletic family, his father, Bill, played basketball at Gonzaga.
"He has burst on the scene this year as one of the most consistent pitchers for the Huskies. He is another big kid and has been really impressive this season," said Knaggs.
The AppleSox open the 2013 season at home on June 5th with a three-game series against the Corvallis Knights in a rematch of the 2012 West Coast League Championship Series.
