AOL For Broadband picnic to feature Andre Dawson

VIERA, FL – AOL For Broadband and the Brevard County Manatees have announced today that former Montreal Expos outfielder Andre Dawson will be appearing at the season ending AOL For Broadband picnic to be held at Space Coast Stadium on September 4th. Fans interested in attending the picnic may register for the sweepstakes drawing at the AOL For Broadband kiosk on the main concourse at Space Coast Stadium before August 31st.

Winners will be notified on September 1st.

Dawson was the 1977 Rookie of the Year and 1987 National League MVP.

Nicknamed "The Hawk,' Dawson amassed an amazing assortment of awards and accolades during his 21-year playing career. During his career with the Expos, the Chicago Cubs, the Boston Red Sox and the Florida Marlins the outfielder picked up eight gold gloves and eight All-Star selections. He also led the league in home runs (49), RBI's (137) and total bases (353) during his MVP run in 1987.

His career total of 438 home runs ranks him 29th ahead of the likes of Cal Ripken Jr. (431), Al Kaline (399) and Johnny Bench (389). He also ranks 28th in RBI's with 1,591 which puts him in the ranks with Mike Schmidt and George Brett (1595), Harmon Killebrew (1584) and Mickey Mantle (1509).
