Angels Sign Ibanez For Travs Bullpen

Whataburger Field, Corpus Christi, Texas - The Los Angeles Angels today signed right-handed pitcher Yosandy Ibanez and assigned him to the Travs. He comes to the Arkansas bullpen from the Florence Freedom in the independent Frontier League where he appeared in a league-high 36 games and held a 3-2 record and 2.01 ERA.
Ibanez, 26, dominated out of the Florence bullpen allowing opposing batters to hit just .181. He also struck out 55 batters against 17 walks in 44.2 innings. In 2007 Ibanez pitched for San Jose and Connecticut in the San Francisco Giants organzation and posted a 1-3 mark and 4.98 ERA in 20 appearances. Ibanez defected from Cuba in 2004 and now makes his home in Hialeah, Florida.
