Tulsa Oilers News Release

She's put her name in the hockey record books, and now Angela Ruggiero wants to put her name in your book.

Ruggiero will be at the Barnes & Noble location at 41st and Yale in Tulsa on Friday August 4th at 7 p.m. She will be signing copies of her book, Breaking the Ice: My Journey to Olympic Hockey, the Ivy League & Beyond.

A winner of a gold, silver and bronze medal as a member of the U.S. Women's Olympic hockey team, Ruggiero is widely regarded as one of the top women hockey players in the world. In addition to appearing in the Olympic games in 1998, 2002, and 2006, Ruggiero has represented the U.S. in a number of other international hockey competitions.

She made her mark on the Tulsa hockey scene on January 28, 2005. Not only did she suit up for the Tulsa Oilers, becoming the first woman non-goaltender to take a regular shift in a men's professional league in North America, she also registered an assist in the game. She's the only woman with a point in men's pro hockey in North America.

Her Tulsa experience is prominently featured in her book. Ruggiero was also the winner of an on line vote to be the Olympic athlete represented on the NBC show The Apprentice. Those episodes begin airing in January of 2007.

Oiler season tickets for the 2006-07 season are now on sale. The prices are the same as the 2005-06 season, ranging from $300 to $475. The Oilers have also instituted an automatic payment plan to make purchasing season tickets even easier and more convenient. Also new this year is a 10 game flex pack. For more information call the Oilers at (918) 632-7825.
