Angel City Football Club Welcomes Gatorade as Founding Partner
July 22, 2021 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL)
Angel City FC News Release
LOS ANGELES, CA - Today Angel City Football Club (ACFC), LA's newest professional women's soccer team set to debut in Spring 2022 in the NWSL, announced Gatorade as a team founding partner and exclusive sports drink partner. As a founding partner, Gatorade products and equipment will be present at all ACFC trainings, games, and on digital signage and corporate hospitality at Banc of California Stadium.
ACFC and Gatorade will address the lack of pathways for female coaches in soccer through the Angel City FC Sponsorship Model, in which 10% of each sponsorship is reallocated into community and social programs. Together, the organizations will launch a formal program that will feature organized training and courses led by current and former coaches, athletes, and female role models. Additionally, the program will provide access to coaching positions across greater LA in which girls and women can hone their skills and expand their coaching networks.
"We're looking forward to fueling Angel City on and off the pitch and working with the club to drive meaningful change in sport," said Jeff Kearney, global head of sports marketing for Gatorade. "We're not only partnering with what is sure to be a world-class soccer club, but one that will be part of its community, serving area youth and ushering in a new era of women's sports in Los Angeles. The model, built by their founding members, including some of our longstanding athlete partners and other leaders, could pave the way for how professional teams are built in the future."
In addition to fueling the next generation of women to reach greatness, Gatorade and ACFC will produce content pieces featuring shared talent and support from Angel City ownership. This will include produced pieces, Clubhouse discussions, and Instagram Live sessions.
"Angel City is founded on the idea of a more equitable future for all and through this partnership with Gatorade, we will be taking a significant step toward that goal," said Julie Uhrman, Co-Founder and President of ACFC. "The on-field visibility and alignment for supporting women's sports and female athletes in all that Gatorade does makes them an incredible partner for Angel City."
