Angel City FC News Release

LOS ANGELES - Today, Angel City Football Club (ACFC) confirmed that the team acquired midfielder Savannah McCaskill through a trade with Racing Louisville. In exchange, Louisville will receive $25,000 in allocation money and the sixth overall pick in the 2022 NWSL Draft presented by Ally.

"We are delighted to welcome Savannah McCaskill to Angel City FC," said ACFC Sporting Director Eni Aluko. "Savannah is a highly technical and versatile midfielder that has a unique ability to create opportunities for her team and unlock opposition defenses. Savannah had a strong season this past season and her experience being part of an expansion team will serve us well in our first season."

McCaskill played for Racing Louisville in the inaugural 2021 season following successful stints with the Chicago Red Stars, Sydney FC, and Sky Blue FC. McCaskill represented the United States U-23 national team and was nominated for U.S. Soccer's 2017 Young Female Athlete of the Year award. She was also named to the U.S. roster for the 2018 SheBelieves Cup where she appeared in all three games.

McCaskill played collegiate soccer at the University of South Carolina, where she started in all 25 matches and tied for the most points on the team playing as a forward despite initially being recruited as a defender. She was also named Freshman Player of the Year by the SouthEastern Conference (SEC). In 2016, McCaskill set new school records for a single season with 17 goals. Her ten game-winning goals ranked second in Division 1 and first in the SEC.

Today's news follows Angel City's roster-building milestones of yesterday's 2022 NWSL Expansion Draft and tomorrow's 2022 NWSL Draft presented by Ally.
