Andy Moye Named FSL Pitcher of the Week

VIERA, Fla. - The Florida State League announced on Monday that Brevard County Manatees right-handed pitcher Andy Moye was named the league's pitcher of the week for the period of July 23-29.

In his first outing in 13 days this past Saturday, Moye had his best performance of the season for Brevard County against the Fort Myers Miracle.

The Alpharetta, Ga. native threw seven shutout innings and allowed just two base runners on one hit and one walk, while fanning five hitters. He retired the last ten hitters that he faced, en route to earning his first win in July.

Moye was promoted to Brevard County on May 17 from Class-A Wisconsin. With the Timber Rattlers, he was 3-0 with a 1.45 ERA in eight appearances and was named the Midwest League Pitcher of the Week for the period ending on May 14.

The 24-year-old won his first four decisions with the Manatees and is currently 5-2 with a 4.69 ERA in 11 appearances with Brevard County. Right-handed hitters in the FSL are hitting just .177 against Moye and with runners in scoring position with two outs, his batting average against is just .162.

Between both levels this season, Moye is a combined 8-2 with a 3.39 ERA. For his professional career, he is 15-5 with a 3.88 ERA in 34 appearances.

Moye was drafted by the Brewers in the 15th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft out of Georgia Southern University.
