Andy Miele Named to AHL All-Star Second Team

Portland, ME- The American Hockey League announced today that Portland Pirates center Andy Miele has been named to the 2013-14 AHL All-Star Second Team as voted by coaches, players and media in each of the AHL's 30 member cities.

A native of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI, Miele has set career highs in all offensive categories with the Pirates this season, tallying 27 goals and 42 assists in 65 games played. Miele currently is tied for 3rd in the American Hockey League in scoring with 69 points. Miele has also made his mark on the Pirates record book this season, as he currently ranks 13th all-time in career goals with 62, 9th in career assists with 114, and 9th in career points with 176. The 25-year-old has also suited up in 7 games with the Phoenix Coyotes this season, registering 2 assists as his first career NHL points.

D - T.J. Brennan, Toronto Marlies

D - Adam Clendening, Rockford IceHogs

LW - Mike Hoffman, Binghamton Senators

C - Travis Morin, Texas Stars

RW - Colton Sceviour, Texas Stars

Second Team

G - Petr Mrazek, Grand Rapids Griffins

D - Adam Almquist, Grand Rapids Griffins

D - Brad Hunt, Oklahoma City Barons

LW - Zach Boychuk, Charlotte Checkers

C - Andy Miele, Portland Pirates

RW - Spencer Abbott, Toronto Marlies

Each All-Star Team member will receive a custom-designed crystal award in recognition of his selection to the 2011-12 AHL First and Second All-Star Teams. Miele is the first Pirate to be named to an AHL All-Star team since both Mark Mancari and Marc-Andre Gragnani were named to the 2010-11 AHL All-Star First Team.

The Pirates will next start a three-game weekend with a trip to Springfield to take on the Falcons on Friday. Game time is set for 7:00 pm and can be heard on WLOB 1310 AM as well as WEZR FM 105.5/AM 1240 in the Lewiston/Auburn area and WTME AM 780/1450 in Oxford County. The game can also be heard online at portlandpirates.com by clicking "Listen Live" and can be seen live on AHL Live at ahllive.com. The pregame show starts at 6:40 with Jeff Mannix.
