Aberdeen IronBirds News Release
Troy, NY - With the game scoreless in the 10th inning, David Anderson blasted his 11th homer of the season, setting a new Aberdeen IronBirds single-season record. It was enough, as the IronBirds defeated the Tri-City ValleyCats 1-0.
Both starting pitchers tossed seven shutout innings tonight. IronBirds starter Justin Moore allowed just three hits and one walk in seven scoreless innings. ValleyCats starting pitcher David Martinez was equally as impressive. He surrendered just two hits and one walk in seven shutout innings of work.
Brandt Walker entered his second inning of work in the 10th inning when Anderson (11) led off the inning with a solo homer to right field. The home run breaks Tyler Kolodny's record of 10, which he set in 2008. It gave the IronBirds a 1-0 lead.
Jesse Rasner (2-0) pitched two scoreless innings for the win. Walker (2-2) took the loss. Clay Schrader (1) pitched a scoreless 10th for his first save of the season.
The IronBirds and the ValleyCats will meet in game two of a three-game set on Saturday evening at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM. Catch the internet broadcast at www.IronBirdsbaseball.com . The PNC Pregame Show will begin at 6:50 PM.
The IronBirds return to Aberdeen next Saturday, August 28th, for a three-game series with the Vermont Lake Monsters. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
The Aberdeen IronBirds have sold out their season tickets for the ninth straight season. Group packages and standing room only tickets, however, are still available for the 2010 season. For ticket information, contact our box office at (410) 297-9292 or visit us online at www.IronBirdsbaseball.com.
