Tigers Come Back For A 4-2 Win

NORWICH-The Connecticut Tigers (30-30) scored three runs in the fifth inning to earn a 4-2 win over the Staten Island Yankees (26- 30) before 3,213 fans, the largest crowd of the season, at Dodd Stadium on Friday night.

The clubs battled to a scoreless tie until the Yankees broke through with a run in the fifth inning. C Jeffrey Farnham (2-4) singled and stole second base.

2B Casey Stevenson (3-5) dropped a single into center field to score Farnham and make it 1-0 Yankees.

The Tigers responded in the fifth inning. DH Brett Anderson (0-3) walked and stole second base. SS Ryan Soares (0-2) reached base on a sacrifice bunt and Anderson moved to third base.

LF Chao-Ting Tang (0-3) followed with a fielder's choice. The Yankees forced out Soares at second base and Anderson scored to tie the game at 1-1.

RF Londell Taylor (0-3) struck out and CF P.J. Polk (2-3) followed with a double to left field to score Tang and make it a 2-1 lead. Polk stole third base and scored on a throwing error by Staten Island C Jeffrey Farnham for a 3-1 advantage.

The Tigers and Yankees continue their series on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. It's the Girl Scout Sleepover at Dodd Stadium following Saturday's game. RHP Zachary Varce (1-5, 5.32) gets the start for Staten Island against Connecticut RHP Patrick Lawson (2-2, 2.98).
