Indiana AlleyCats News Release

Anderson, IN. Anderson University will serve as the home venue for the ABA Indiana Alley Cats. The Alley Cats will have home court advantage at AU for the 2005-2006 season. The team will play its 18 home games at the O.C. Lewis Arena in the Kardatzke Wellness Center beginning with its inaugural game and home opening, Saturday, November 5th. The 36-game regular schedule concludes in March, 2006.

"I am confident that I speak for the entire Alley Cats' organization in saying that we are not only excited, but also very honored to have the opportunity to make Anderson University and the City of Anderson our home," said Rob Blackwell, president of the Indiana Alley Cats. "In planning our inaugural season, we felt that it was imperative to not just lease a facility, but to create a long term relationship with a community and institution that would not only welcome exciting, high quality professional basketball, but that also shared our organization's core values of integrity, faith and family. We will always do our very best to reflect these values on and off the floor and to honor the tradition of this community and Anderson University."

Greg Graham serves as Head Coach for the Alley Cats. A former player at Indiana University from 1989-1993 under the leadership of Bob Knight, Greg was an integral part of two Big Ten titles and a berth in the 1992 NCAA Men's Final Four. He is the only player in Big Ten history to lead the league in field goal percentage (55%) and 3-point field goal percentage (53%) in the same year. Graham played five years in the NBA and finished his career in Europe. The ABA features 50 teams in nine divisions from coast-to-coast in the US, Mexico and Canada. The ABA regular season begins in early November and continues through mid-March, with playoffs following in late March.

"The City of Anderson and the surrounding communities have a rich basketball tradition, and O.C. Lewis Gymnasium will be an outstanding venue for the Alley Cats," said Michael Zapolski, director of Athletics for Anderson University. "This partnership will provide a new form of convenient family entertainment plus a unique link to the Indianapolis market."
