DareDevils sign playground legend Sheik Pearson

Niagara Daredevils News Release

St.Catharines, Ontario - October 4, 2005 The DareDevils announced today the signing of Sheik Pearson, a 6'3" left-handed guard and playground legend. While growing up, Pearson was 2-on-2 partners with the NBA's Allen Iverson. With Iverson's cross-over and Sheik's defensive skills, the duo was nearly unstoppable. Sheik's "freakish" defensive skills earned him the nickname "Sheik the Freak," a nickname which he solidified while holding current NBA Star Stephon Marbury in check for an entire game with his full court defence.

Like Iverson, Sheik was also a high school multi-sport athlete, attracting attention from both the NBA and NFL for his impressive athleticism. In 1999, Pearson's abilities caught the eye of the Charlotte Hornets and he was invited to tryouts. He has since played in the NBDL, USBL and the former IBL. Sheik will be arriving in Niagara to make his mark on the ABA in time for training camp on October 15th.
