Winston-Salem Dash News Release
WINSTON-SALEM, NC (December 4, 2008) -- What began with over 3,000 submissions from the Winston-Salem community has reached a conclusion, the Winston-Salem professional baseball franchise will take the field in 2009 as The Dash. The announcement was made today at the Millennium Center in Downtown Winston-Salem. The team revealed their uniforms, hats and varied logo marks in the new team colors of Purple, Black, Metallic Silver and Red.
Winston-Salem Mayor Allen Joines joined Dash owner Billy Prim and President Kevin Terry, along with new field manager and former major leaguer Joe McEwing, to unveil the logo to an excited crowd which counted down the final seconds to the reveal.
"This was an exciting process, but nothing compares to actually making the announcement and introducing our name," said Terry. "We reviewed logos for all of the finalists, looked at any conflicts with other team names and evaluated the suggestions and reasoning from the community. At the end of the day, Dash is a name that is associated with the community - it brings Winston-Salem together - the logo is unique, compelling and provides a lot of opportunity for integration in our game entertainment and fan participation."
