Anchorage Wolverines News Release
The Anchorage Wolverines lost their first game of the weekend against the Minnesota Wilderness, 3-2 in overtime. Shane Soderwall put up another solid performance in net making 36 saves on 39 shots. Despite the loss Anchorage still secures one point in the Midwest division standings.
The Wilderness struck first in the contest, scoring five minutes and 40 seconds into the opening frame thanks to an unassisted goal from Reid Daavettila. Fedya Nikolaenya tied the game one minute later, scoring his first goal of the season for the Wolverines while Anchorage was on the kill. Aiden Westin put the Wolverines up by one later in the period, and Anchorage held that one-goal lead for most of the contest. Late in the 3rd however, Beau Janzig knotted the game at two, and then, with under a minute remaining in overtime Joe Cesario won the game for his team at home, by a final score of 3-2.
Anchorage will play the Wilderness twice more this weekend, Saturday at 4:15 p.m. AKDT and Sunday at 2:15 AKDT. Both games will be available to watch exclusively on HockeyTV.
