Anchorage Wolverines News Release
The Anchorage Wolverines lost 3-2 in overtime to the St. Cloud Norsemen on Friday night, picking up just one point in the standings as a result. Ben Dardis started in net for the first time this season, making 23 saves on 26 shots in his debut.
For the third time in as many games, both teams skated through a scoreless 1st period. In the 2nd, St. Cloud would have the only goal of the frame, when Nik Hong scored from the slot at the 11:51 mark. The Norsemen would extend the lead early in the 3rd, when Jeremiah Konkel chipped in his first of the year over the shoulder of Dardis. Anchorage would start the comeback 45 seconds later however, when a mistake by St. Cloud goaltender Tomas Bolo gave Jackson Reineke the puck with an open net to shoot at. Then six minutes later the Wolverines tied the game, with Wilson Dahlheimer scoring his first junior goal off of a pass from Clay Allen. The game proceeded into overtime, but would be cut short when Blake Perbix beat Dardis for the game winner, and Anchorage lost by a final score of 3-2.
The Wolverines have one more game in the NAHL showcase, Saturday at 11:45 a.m. AKDT against the Minot Minotauros. The game is available to watch, exclusively on HockeyTV.
