Anaheim Arsenal Stomp All Over Mad Ants 113 - 87

February 18, 2008 - NBA G League (G League) - Anaheim Arsenal News Release

Anaheim, Calif., February 18, 2008 - On President's Day 2008 the Anaheim Arsenal and the Ft. Wayne Mad Ants squared off for the first time this season. The crowd who came to watch the two teams play included one special guest, the Famous Chicken commonly known as the San Diego Chicken, who was in attendance to entertain the spectators. The San Diego Chicken made his presence felt with comedy, including a dance battle with a familiar purple dinosaur.

Another person who made his presence felt at the game was Anaheim Arsenal Center Marcus Campbell, who led the Arsenal attack with 23 points. The Arsenal offense was a balanced machine that shot 50% from the field in the first half on 20-out-of-40 shooting. In fact, every Arsenal player was on the point board by the half. Anaheim's offense was aggressive right from the start, creating 21 free throw opportunities for Anaheim, to Fort Wayne's 13 attempts.

In the second half it was the Arsenal defense that took over the game. Anaheim finished the game with 6 blocked shots, 9 steals, and out rebounded Ft. Wayne 56 to 36. Anaheim's first half offense and second half defense led to a 113 - 97 win, and their third consecutive victory.

Marcus Campbell commented on the win, "It was a great team effort. A little sloppy at times but we fought hard, stuck together and did what we had to do to win the game."

Ft. Wayne was without its D-League All-Star Game MVP Guard, Jeremy Richardson, and was led by Earl Calloway who scored 30 points in the losing effort.

After the game Arsenal Head Coach, Reggie Geary said, "Well it wasn't the prettiest game but we still executed well. Marcus Campbell was a good starter, Guillermo Diaz had a double-double and Ejike Ugboaja was a powerful force throughout the game."

The Arsenal will play again on Wednesday, February 20, 2008, against the Tulsa 66ers at the Arena at the Anaheim Convention Center. Tip-off is at 7:30PM. For more information about the Arsenal please call (714) 635-BALL or visit
