Anaheim, Calif., February 15, 2008 -The Anaheim Arsenal paid a visit to the students of Olive Elementary School in Orange, CA to personally congratulate and present 24 students with Most Improved Student Awards.
Newest Anaheim Arsenal player acquisitions Terrence Crawford and Mike Gansey were on hand to pass out the awards to the Olive Elementary students. Gansey as well as Arsenal VP of Sales, Tony Runestad, spoke to the kids about the importance of achievement through education.
Gansey said about the event, "It's exciting to hand out these Most Improved Student awards. We want to recognize the kids for working very, very hard in their education. Coming out here today helps encourage them to continue and achieve more."
Olive Elementary is home to over 400 K-6 students, who look for role models everyday. "Kids love it. They look up to the players. They need role models to tell them to work hard in school," commented Fourth Grade Olive Elementary teacher Christie Koss.
Along with a certificate and congratulations from Arsenal players, each Most Improved Student received a FREE ticket to attend an Arsenal Home Game on March 22.
On President's Day, Monday, Feb. 18th the Arsenal will play host to the Ft. Wayne Mad Ants at 3:00PM. The Famous Chicken (commonly known as the San Diego Chicken) will be in the house to bring zany antics and laughter to the game.
