An Early Outburst Leads Brockton to a Win

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Bravehearts (29-14) fell to the Brockton Rox (19-23) on Saturday night. Worcester could not atone for a number of errors they made at the beginning of the game, and ultimately lost by a final score of 7-1. Greg Stagani (West Liberty/Richmond, OH) started on the mound for the Bravehearts and got off to a shaky start, largely because of poor fielding behind him. He received the loss after five innings pitched, allowing seven runs, but only two earned on nine hits with five strikeouts and a walk. When he left the game, Worcester was facing a 7-0 deficit, but Sam Steeves (Franklin Pierce/Dorchester, MA) and Tyler Lonestar (Saint Marys/Danville, CA) kept the Rox off of the scoreboard in their four innings of combined relief work. Brockton started Bryce Tucker (UCF/Apopka, FL), who had an excellent performance. He threw for six innings, only giving up two hits with nine strikeouts and two walks. The Bravehearts could not plate any runs until the ninth inning, when Chad Miller (Saint Leo/Sarasota, FL) hit a bomb to deep left field. Miller ended the day with one hit in four at-bats along with a run and RBI. That lone run would not be enough, as Worcester's comeback attempt fell short and Brockton left with the 7-1 victory.
