Tri-City Americans News Release

Kennewick, WA - The Tri-City Americans today have extended the contract of head coach Don Nachbaur through the 2006-07 campaign. Terms were not disclosed.

Nachbaur led the Americans to a 28-point turnaround last year as the hockey club went 31-27-10-4, 76 points, finishing third in a tightly contested race for first in the U.S. Division. The club finished just four points behind the Western Conference Champion Everett Silvertips after missing the playoffs and finishing with just 20 wins and 48 points the previous season.

Nachbaur will be entering his eighth season as a head coach in the WHL. He spent six seasons in Seattle from 1994-00 before joining the Americans in 2003-04.

"I appreciate the opportunity to continue coaching this special group of players and I appreciate the confidence that the ownership group has shown me. My family and I are happy to continue calling the Tri-Cities our home for the coming years," said Nachbaur. "It's exciting to know we'll continue this relationship and coach the team over the next three years. I look forward to leading this club and helping it reach the next level."

"Don did an excellent job guiding and molding our team last season," said Americans vice-president/general manager Bob Tory. "He's an integral part of the overall hockey operation and it's very important to have continuity not only in management, but in coaching year-to-year."

"This contract insures that our hockey family will remain intact as we continue to grow as a team," commented Tory.
