Rochester Americans News Release
(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans announced today a three-year radio deal with Clear Channel Radio Rochester to carry Amerks hockey. This season, all 80 regular season games will be carried on 1280 WHTK & FM 107.3, Rochester's Sports Talk.
"We are pleased to working with Clear Channel and WHTK to broadcast the Amerks games for the next three years," said Amerks President Lewis Staats. "We are expecting a renewed excitement with the team this year and hope the fans tune in to catch all of the action and call in to our own postgame show after each home game"
"We are really excited to be entering into our 14th season with the Rochester Amerks. The timing couldn't be better," said Jeff Howlett, Program Director for WHTK, about the Amerks joining the new FM lineup. "With the popularity of FOX Sports Radio, Jim Rome, the addition of Dan Patrick, and a move by John Di Tullio to afternoons, local sports fans will be pleased with our extended reach and quality, as well as our commitment to broadcasting local sports."
Don Stevens enters his 24th season as the "Voice of the Rochester Americans." Former National Hockey League forward Ric Seiling will also return to the booth for his fourth season as the color commentator. Further, Seiling and Joe Giuliano will continue to host the pregame, intermission and postgame reports. The duo will also host the Amerks' Postgame Call-in Show live from The Blue Cross Arena during all 40 home games.
As part of the deal, Amerks VP of Hockey Operations Ted Nolan will have a weekly segment on the John Di Tullio Show on Wednesdays at 4:05 p.m. The first installment is Wednesday, September 30th. Di Tullio is the host of the Weekday Sports Talk Show from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, on SPORTSRADIO 1280 WHTK.
