(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans announced today that the team will officially open their 2009-10 American Hockey League training camp on Thursday, September 24th at the ESL Sports Centre on the campus of Monroe Community College (2700 Brighton-Henrietta Townline Rd).

The Amerks will hit the ice on Thursday, September 24th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. Coaches and players will be available to the media beginning at 1:00 p.m. On Friday, September 25th, Rochester will skate from 10:00 a.m. to 11:50 a.m., with media availability immediately following practice at 12:00 p.m. Both sessions are free and open to the public.

On Saturday, September 26th, the Amerks will hold a 10:00 a.m. gameday skate at the ESL Sports Centre prior to opening up their preseason schedule. The details of the game will be announced on Monday, September 14th.

The Amerks will be back on the ice from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 27th before continuing their preseason schedule later that night. The Amerks will host the Syracuse Crunch at the ESL Sports Centre at 6:00 p.m. The lone home contest is the first of a home-and-home series between the North Division rivals.

Rochester will resume training camp with practice on Monday, September 28th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Coaches and players will be made available to the media at 12:00 p.m. The Amerks will conclude their preseason with the second leg of the two-game set with Crunch on Tuesday, September 29th as Rochester makes its way down the I-90 for a 7:05 p.m. matchup at the War Memorial at Oncenter.

Training camp will officially close after practice on Tuesday, September 29th at ESL. Practice is scheduled for a 10:00 a.m. start. The 2009-10 AHL season will being play on Friday, October 2nd. Rochester opens its 54th season in the AHL against the Lake Erie Monsters at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday, October 3rd at The Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial.
