Manitoba Moose News Release

The Manitoba Moose are pleased to announce the organization will recognize the efforts and excellence of Hockey Canada during their game against the Rochester Americans on Friday, January 5th at the MTS Centre. Gametime is 7:30 p.m.

On Friday, the Moose will wear a special third jersey similar in style and colour to the current jerseys worn by the National Junior Team at the World Junior Hockey Championships in Leksand, Sweden and by the men's and women's National Teams at the most recent 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy. Please see the attached rendering for more detail. Six of these jerseys will be auctioned at the game on the main concourse level.

Prior to the game, two-time Olympic Gold Medal winner and Winnipeg native Jennifer Botterill will be on hand to help to unveil and raise a special banner recognizing the 2007 World Women's Hockey Championships to be held at the MTS Centre from April 3rd to 10th, 2007. Teams from Canada, the United States, Russia, Sweden, Kazakhstan, Germany, Switzerland, Finland, and China will compete for gold in Winnipeg and Selkirk. The U.S. won the most recent World Women's Hockey Championships in 2005 in a shootout over Canada in Linkoping, Sweden. Tickets for all games are available at Ticketmaster at 204-780-3333 or by going online at www.ticketmaster.ca

The Hockey Hall of Fame will also have a display of many international hockey items and memorabilia set up in the concourse that night, including such things as the Canada Cup and the World Cup trophy, among others.

There will also be numerous World Women's Hockey Championships giveaways throughout the course of the game between the Moose and Amerks.
