Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas - The two-time CHL Presidents' Cup Champion Allen Americans announced today the signing of forward Jamie Schaafsma to a contract for the 2014-2015 season.
Schaafsma signs on for his third season in Allen with back to back CHL Championships on his resume, as well as winning the MVP of the playoffs award last season with 10 goals and 10 assists in 17 games, leading the Allen Americans to a five game series win over Denver.
"I'm happy to be returning to Allen for a third season," said Schaafsma. "This is a great community to raise a family and the organization has been first class. With back to back championships seasons the expectations once again will again be high. I'm looking forward to October."
The native of Blenheim, Ontario, turned 31 years old this past February. Prior to his time in Allen, he spent a couple of seasons in Europe putting up big numbers. He had 25 goals and 31 assists in 37 games for Gherdeina in the Italy 2 League in 2011-2012. He also has six straight appearances in the finals, three championships, two with Allen.
Schaafsma became the second player signing announced by Allen this off-season, joining defenseman Kevin Young on that list. In 127 games for Allen in two seasons, he has 45 goals and 57 assists for 102 points.
The Americans begin their sixth season in the Central Hockey League this October with five straight playoff appearances, two Governors Cups as well as two Championships. Season Tickets for the upcoming campaign are on sale at www.allenamericans.com or call (972) 912-1000 .
