Americans Sign Former CHL Most Outstanding Defenseman Award Winner

Allen, Texas - The Presidents' Cup Champion Allen Americans added former CHL award-winning defenseman, Kevin Young to their roster today for the 2014-2015 campaign.

"Kevin is a tremendous player and very solid at both ends of the rink," said Allen Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson.

Young had 24 goals and 35 assists in 66 games for the Wichita Thunder in 2012-2013, winning the Most Outstanding Defenseman Award. He spent last year with the Colorado Eagles of the ECHL, totaling 35 points in 56 gamesand was a plus25.

The native of White Rock, British Columbia, is a nine year pro who played five seasons in Europe. His best numbers as a professional came in 2010-2011, where he had 61 points in 38 games with Eindhoven, of the Hlnd in Holland.

"It was hard to leave a beautiful place like Colorado, said Kevin Young, but when your destination is Allen and an organization that just won back to back titles it makes it much easier. "I'm excited to be a part of the Allen Americans and looking forward to have the chance to win."

Young becomes the first player signed by the two-time defending champs this off-season, with Allen being his third stop in the CHL. He was with Bossier for 8 games in 2010-2011, and Wichita for two seasons from 2011-2013.
