Americans Look to Extend Streak Tonight in Missouri

Allen Americans News Release

Independence, Missouri - The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, look to extend their winning streak to eight games tonight when the club faces the Missouri Mavericks at 7:05 PM.

The Americans face Missouri for the fourth time this month, with Allen winning all three of the previous games in March. The Americans are six points behind Colorado for the top spot in the Mountain Division with a game in hand.

The club will be minus a few of its key players tonight, with Greger Hanson and Spencer Asuchak both up in the American Hockey League, and Bryan Moore nursing an injury and not on the trip. The good news is fans will get a first look at forward Alex Krushelnyski, who made the 8-hour bus ride to Independence and will be in the Americans lineup tonight. Krushelnyski was reassigned to Allen by Binghamton of the AHL last week.

"Big points on the line this week," said Americans forward Chad Costello. "Our goal has been all season to win the division and that hasn't changed. We can't worry about what Colorado does, but if we take care of our own business, we have a chance."

The opponent tonight, Missouri, has been struggling of late winning only three of their last ten games. If the playoffs started today, the Mavericks would be out of the postseason six points behind Alaska for the final playoff spot in the Mountain Division. Missouri is led by forward Dane Fox with 28 goals and 63 points.

The Americans return home for back to back games against the Tulsa Oilers on Friday and Saturday nights at Allen Event Center. Friday night is Faith & Family Night, presented by Christ Fellowship, and Saturday is Ortho Texas Military Appreciation Night, with the team wearing specialty jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game.
