Allen Americans Celebrate a Goal

Wheeling, WV - The Allen Americans and Wheeling Nailers battled on Saturday night at the WesBanco Arena, the scene of a thrilling 3-2 overtime win by the Americans which gives them the 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven ECHL Kelly Cup Finals.
After a scoreless opening frame, Wheeling was able to draw first blood when Jarrett Burton snuck one past Riley Gill at the 12:16 mark, his 7th of the playoffs, to put the Nailers up 1-0 for the period's lone goal.
Allen brought the game level at 3:33 when Chad Costello lit the lamp for the 7th time this post season. The Americans extended their lead on a fantastic effort by Vincent Arseneau that started with a blocked shot in the Americans end and then finished with Arseneau beating Franky Palazzese at 7:35, to put the Americans on top 2-1. The goal was Arseneau's 8th goal of the playoffs.
Wheeling battled back to tie the game late in the period when Cody Wydo converted on the power play, for his 11th goal of the playoffs with just under four minutes to go in the period. Neither team could score during the balance of regulation which forced the game to overtime.
Overtime was over as quickly as it started when Greger Hanson scored his 14th goal of the playoffs just 17 seconds into the extra frame to give the Americans the 3-2 victory.
The ECHL Kelly Cup Finals series makes its way back to Allen for game six this Thursday night at the Allen Event Center with a scheduled puck drop at 7:05PM CST.
