Americans Drop Second Straight, Fall To Chill 5-2

St. Charles, MO - The Allen Americans dropped their second in a row falling to the St Charles Chill 5-2 on Saturday night at Family Arena.

The Chill opened the scoring when Nicklas Lindberg redirected a shot past Bryan Pitton in the Americans net at 6:31 of the first period, assisted by Cameron Cooper and Travis Ouelette. Allen held the edge in shots on goal at 11-8 but St Charles led on the scoreboard at the first intermission by a score of 1-0.

St Charles extended their lead to 2-0 early in the middle frame when TJ Moor lit the lamp on the power play, just 1:37 into the period, Zack Josepher was credited with the lone assist. Allen cut the St Charles lead in half at 8:52 on Greger Hanson's 15th goal of the season, assisted by Phil Fox. Allen tied the game on Bruce Graham's first goal of the season, assisted by Greger Hanson and Tyler Ludwig at 14:44, on the power play. The Chill answered back less than a minute later to regain the lead on John Snowden's goal, assisted by Michael MacIntyre and Nicklas Lindberg. Shots were even through the second period at 8-8, with Allen holding a slight edge at 19-18 through two periods of play.

The Chill regained their two goal lead just 50 seconds into the third period when Travis Ouelette scored a power play goal to give the Chill the 4-2 lead with assists from John Snowden and Linus Lundin. Martin Hlinka then netted an empty net goal to give the Chill the 5-2 lead with 1:28 remaining in regulation and complete the first ever victory for the last place Chill over the Allen Americans. Allen again outshot the Chill in the third period by a count of 8-5 and led 27-23 through three periods of play but fell short on the scoreboard, 5-2.

Allen finishes their three game road set with their final game in the back-to-back contests against the Chill on Sunday afternoon with the puck drop scheduled for 4:05PM.
