Prescott Valley, AZ - The Arizona Sundogs close out a nine-game road trip being shutout by the Quad City Mallards 3-0 Saturday night at the iWireless Center.
The Sundogs found themselves shutout for the first time since their game against the Tulsa Oilers on February 19th on home ice. Just like last night, Arizona gave up two goals in the opening period, the first 1:08 into the frame with the goal from Gergo Nagy and Matt Boyd. 3:27 later Mike Stinziani registered an unassisted shorthanded goal when Jordan Mayer was given two minutes for tripping. The first period was full of penalties with Brandon Coccimiglio receiving seven minutes after charging into Mallard's goalie Ty Rimmer and then received a five minute fighting major after dropping the gloves with Michael Monfredo .
Jordan Mayer scored Quad City's final goal 9:14 into the second period with assists from Jeff Lee and Stinziani to close out a three nothing win.
Andrew Engelage made 20 saves. Arizona outshot Quad City 32-23. Neither team converted their power play opportunities with the Sundogs receiving four changes and the Mallards receiving five. Saturday's game concludes the Sundogs final road trip of the regular season as they return home to close out the season with eight home games.
