
Americans Comeback Falls Short in OT to Winterhawks

The Tri-City Americans came back twice on to tie the Winterhawks on Tuesday, but ultimately fell 4-3 in overtime.
Jack O'Brien opened scoring for the Winterhawks early first period and held on to their 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
Tri-City tied the game 1:09 into the second period with a goal from Sam Huo, his 29th of the season. With one more goal this year, Huo will have matched his previous career high of 30 goals.
The Winterhawks added two more second period goals to take a 3-1 lead.
With three minutes remaining in the period, Petr Moravec scored off a pass from Jordan Gavin to put the Americans back within one. Moravec has scored six of his 15 goals this season against the Winterhawks. The assist was Gavin's first of his WHL career.
Parker Bell scored the game-tying goal with 6:24 remaining in the game. The score held tied at three and extended into overtime.
37 seconds into overtime Sam Huo received a hooking penalty, putting the Winterhawks on the power play. Portland capitalized on the opportunity as James Stefan scored the game-winning goal 1:37 into the extra frame.
Tomas Suchanek played the full game in net, turning asid 39 of 41 shots faced.
