
Americans Close out 2012 with a 4-0 Shutout over Quad City

Allen, Texas - On New Year's Eve, the Allen Americans defeated the Quad City Mallards 4 - 0. This was the third and final meeting between the two teams. For the season, the Americans are 4-1-0 against them.
Quickly in the first period, Brian McMillin scored his 7th goal of the season with an assist by Jason Deitsch. The Americans only had four shots on goal compared to the Mallards' 10.
During the final two minutes of a physical 2nd period, Jarret Lukin scored his 9th goal of the season. He was assisted by McMillin and Trevor Ludwig. The Americans dramatically increased their shots on goal with 15 compared to the Mallards' 6.
In the 3rd period, Ryley Grantham scored his fourth goal of the season for the Americans with help from Kip Brennan. Brennan's assist was his first this season. Brennan scored his second goal of the season late in the period to put the Americans up 4 - 0. The goal was assisted by Deitsch and McMillin. Allen won the battle of shots on goal 28 - 26.
In the victory Americans rookie goalie Aaron Dell recorded his first professional shutout stopping all 26 shots he faced. Dell closes out 2012 with the best goals against average and save percentage in the CHL.
The Americans play at home again on Friday, January 4th against the Tulsa Oilers and Saturday, January 5th against the Rapid City Rush. This will be the first meeting between the Americans and the Rush this season. Both games start at 7:05 PM.
