Allen Americans News Release
Salt Lake City, Utah - The Allen Americans defeated the Utah Grizzlies on Wednesday night by a score of 3-2 at the Maverick Center. It was the second consecutive overtime win for the Americans.
Harrison Ruopp scored the game winner in the extra session for his first of the season. Ruopp fired a shot from the high-slot that beat Utah goalie Kevin Boyle. Gary Steffes picked up the only assist for Allen to extend his point streak to two games.
"We wanted this one badly," said Gary Steffes. "Riley (Gill) played unbelievable between the pipes again and we did our part to help him out. We felt this was our game to lose."
Chad Costello scored his sixth goal of the season in the second period, which was his 600th career point. Derek Mathers scored his second of the season to open the scoring for Allen, and has now scored in two of his last three games. Greger Hanson had two helpers for Allen, while Riley Gill stopped 38 of 40 shots to get the win. Bryan Moore made his Allen debut on Wednesday night and was even with one shot on net.
The Americans headed to Boise, Idaho after the game where they will play the Idaho Steelheads on Friday and Saturday night. Allen returns home on December 2nd & 3rd against Tulsa.
