American Hockey League Comes To Elmira

Elmira, NY - The Elmira Jackals announced today that the First Arena will host a regular season AHL home game for the Binghamton Senators this year.
The Jackals and the First Arena will be the hosts for an American Hockey League clash between the Binghamton Senators and the Norfolk Admirals, Saturday, February 17th, 2007 in Elmira, NY. This is the only home game of the 2006-07 regular season that the Senators will not be playing at their home rink, the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena in downtown Binghamton.
"Due to circumstances outside of our control, we lost two dates in February at the Arena and will be moving our Feb. 17 home game to Elmira," said Tom Mitchell, the Senators Executive Vice President of Operations. "We were able to move one of the games to another date at the Arena, but the Feb. 17 game could not be moved due to conflicts at the Arena and with Norfolk's schedule. Therefore, we looked into several options and felt that moving the game to Elmira was the best choice."
In the past Elmira has hosted AHL exhibition games at the First Arena, but this will be the first time that a regular season AHL game will be played in Chemung County. Most recently the Rochester Americans and the Syracuse Crunch went head-to-head in Elmira during the 2003-04 preseason.
"We are pleased to bring an AHL regular season game to the First Arena," said General Manager Robbie S. Nichols. "I would like to thank Binghamton Senators' GM Tom Mitchell for allowing us the opportunity to show the people of Elmira the future NHL stars playing in the AHL today. I think by having this game here our fans will see how closely the Jackals will be working together with our friends in Binghamton this year."
Ticket and Game Time information will be announced at a later date, while certain choice seats at the First Arena will be reserved for B'Sens Season Ticket Holders.
After completing their 6th season in franchise history in the UHL, the Jackals are gearing up for Season 7. Season tickets for the 2006-2007 UHL season are on sale now at the First Arena Box Office. For more information call 607-734-PUCK (7825).
