Grand Prairie 11, Sioux Falls 10

Grand Prairie and Sioux Falls scored early and often and the AirHogs held off a ninth inning rally to claim an 11-10 victory. The teams used a total of 11 pitchers after the two offenses combined to score 13 runs in two innings. Grand Prairie held an 8-6 advantage after three innings and led 11-8 headed to the ninth. Sioux Falls scored twice in the top half of the frame but left the tying run at second base to end the game. Four Grand Prairie batters had two hits apiece and 2B Ron Fenwick and 3B Cesar Nicolas each drove in four runs for the AirHogs.

Pensacola 3, Ft. Worth 2

Pensacola starter Randy Beam held the Ft. Worth offense to just two hits in six innings of work as the Pelicans topped the Cats 3-2. Beam walked six men but allowed just one earned run and improved his record to 4-5 with the win. Pelicans closer Hunter Davis worked a 1-2-3 ninth inning to collect his 11th save of the year. 2B Antoin Gray led the way offensively for Pensacola with two hits and two RBI. Joel Kirsten pitched eight innings for Ft. Worth and allowed 11 hits while striking out five. He surrendered just one earned run but took the loss to drop to 5-3. With the win, Pensacola completed a three game road sweep of the Cats.

St. Paul 13, Sioux City 6

St. Paul sent 11 men to the plate in the top of the ninth inning and scored six times to blow open a 7-6 game and defeat Sioux City by a 13-6 final. LF Jacob Butler's 11th homer of the year got the scoring started in the ninth and pushed the St. Paul lead to 9-6. C Scott Knazek tripled later in the inning to drive in two more runs. Saints RF Brent Krause was a perfect 4-for-4 with a RBI and three runs scored. Charlie Ruud got the win for St. Paul as he went six innings and allowed two earned runs on five hits. His record now stands at 4-3. Explorers 2B Alex Llanos went 2-for-4 and collected his 1,000th career hit.

Shreveport-Bossier 15, El Paso 11

Shreveport-Bossier ended the first half of the American Association season with a big comeback. The Captains scored twelve runs in the final two innings, rallying from deficits of 8-3 and 10-8, to defeat El Paso by a 15-11 final. El Paso led by five runs twice in the contest. Captains 1B Andres Rodriguez had a huge game going 4-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBI. The bottom of the batting order also did significant damage for Shreveport-Bossier as SS Dan Williams, 2B Joe Urtuzuastegui, and C Tommy Bryant combined to drive in nine runs.

Wichita 4, Lincoln 0

Wichita's Derek Blacksher tossed six shutout innings to lead the Wingnuts to a 4-0 win over Lincoln. Blacksher continued to prove his reliability as the outing marked the ninth consecutive start in which he worked at least six innings. The Wingnuts offense rewarded him by scoring the game's first run in the top of the seventh inning on CF Nick Blasi's RBI single to shortstop. Wichita added three runs in the next frame to secure the win. Every Wingnuts starter but one had a hit in the contest.
