In game one of the doubleheader, the Cats went ahead early and never looked back. Fort Worth scored two runs in both the second and third innings to take a 4-0 lead. Cats LF Jordan Foster led the way with a 2-for-3 performance. Foster scored a run and batted in two more. Starting Cats pitcher Cory Walters picked up his fifth win of the season with a six-inning performance in which he allowed no runs on four hits with seven strikeouts. The Diablos scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to make the final score 5-1 Fort Worth.

The Saltdogs clinched the first half of the North Division Friday night, snapping the Saints' 10-game winning streak in the process. The Saltdogs used a strong performance from starting pitcher Jarrett Gardner to take the first-half crown. Gardner earned his sixth win of the season after pitching 7.2 innings and allowing one run on seven hits with four strikeouts. On offense the Saltdogs were led by 3B Jay Yaconetti, who hit his second home run of the season to highlight a 3-for-4 night. For the Saints, RF Brent Krause went 3-for-5 with a run scored.

The Blacksnakes took advantage of three Sioux Falls errors to score three runs in the bottom of the second inning. But with the score 3-1 St. Joe in the top of the sixth inning, the Canaries scored on an error to set the stage for a go-ahead two-run double by RF Wil Quintana. Quintana went 2-for-4 on the night with a run and two RBI. Starting Canaries pither Micah Posey allowed three runs, all unearned, on four hits with a walk and eight strikeouts. Eight different Canaries batters picked up hits on the night, with Quintana and DH Will Smith getting two a piece.

Pensacola 9, Sioux City 6 (10 innings)

After five innings Friday night, the Pelicans led the Explorers 6-1. But Sioux City wasn't going down without a fight. Sioux City scored a run in the bottom of the sixth inning and used a two-run double by 3B Jake Daubert to spark a four-run inning in the eighth to tie the game. After the scheduled nine innings, the score remained 6-6 and the Pelicans and Explorers were headed for extras. The Pelicans made a statement in the top of the tenth inning with three runs, capped off by a two-run single by LF Marcos Rodriguez. Pelicans reliever Chris Thompson then finished off his scoreless three innings of work in the bottom of the tenth inning, surrendering his only hit and registering one of his five strikeouts.
