Shreveport DH Chad Gambill homered and drove in four runs to help lift the Sports over Pensacola 8-6. The homerun was Gambill's eighth of the season. SS Enohel Polanco added two hits and two RBI of his own to the Sports attack. Starting pitcher Erik Wikstrom picked up the win and relief pitcher Jeff Little did not allow a base runner in the final 1 2/3 innings to record his first save of the year. For Pensacola, DH/LF Jose Yepez and RF Juan Rocha combined for five hits and four RBI.

Fort Worth 4, Coastal Bend 3

Fort Worth scored one run in the eighth inning and another in the ninth to erase a 3-2 Coastal Bend lead and knock off the Aviators 4-3. SS Marc Mirizzi went 1-for-3 with a solo homerun, his eighth of the season. Relief pitcher Jeff Montani pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings to pick up the win and improve to 1-1 on the season. Closer Steve Wilkerson was perfect in the ninth to tally his 12th save. For Coastal Bend, DH Bryon Smith went 1-for-4 and drove in two of the Aviators' three runs.

Sioux Falls C Dennis Anderson went 2-for-4 with a homerun to help the Canaries take a 5-2 victory over St. Joe. Starting pitcher Tony Cogan allowed just one run over 6 2/3 innings to get the win and improve to 7-3, while closer Matt Montgomery picked up his sixth save of the season. For St. Joe, RF Wil Quintana and 1B Mark Burke each homered and drove in a run. Quintana'a homerun gave him 17 on the year, which ties him with Sioux City LF Jorge Moreno for the league lead.

Starting pitcher Jeff Blitstein pitched a complete game shutout to lead Lincoln past St. Paul 8-0. With the win Blitstein improves to 7-1 on the season. 3B Jay Yaconetti and LF Pichi Balet combined for four hits and five RBI to lead the Saltdogs at the plate. Yaconetti homered in the game, his seventh of the year. For St. Paul, 1B Brian Buchanan and 3B Steve Butler each went 2-for-4.

Sioux City 11, El Paso 8

HR: EP-Brandon Haygood (1); SC-Jorge Moreno (17), Chris Grossman (9), Kevin Henry (13)

Sioux City pounded out 15 hits, including three homeruns, to outlast El Paso 11-8. LF Jorge Moreno, C Chris Grossman and DH Kevin Henry each homered and combined to drive in five runs. Moreno's homerun gave him 17 for the season, which ties him with St. Joe RF Wil Quintana for the most in the league. SS J.J. Burress also had a big night at the plate for the Explorers going 4-for-5 with two RBI. Relief pitcher J.D. Scholten allowed just one run over four scoreless innings to pick up the win. Closer Sean Kramer pitched a perfect ninth inning to pick up his 14th save. For El Paso, 2B Brandon Haygood and DH J.P. Schmidt combined for three hits and four RBI. Haygood homered in the game, his first of the season.
