Starting pitcher Sam Smith allowed just one run on six hits over eight innings of work to help Pensacola past Coastal Bend 5-1. RF Juan Rocha went 1-for-3 with two RBI to lead the Pelicans at the plate. C Greg Stevens and DH Jose Yepez each had two hits of their own to add to the Pelicans attack. Despite taking the loss, Coastal Bend starting pitcher Pedro Flores allowed only two earned runs over 6 2/3 innings. At the plate, the Aviators were led by RF Rodney Medina, who went 2-for-3 with a triple.

Lincoln 9, Sioux City 0

Lincoln pounded out 20 hits, including five doubles, en route to a 9-0 shutout victory over Sioux City. C Kevin Sullivan went 3-for-5 with four RBI to lead the Saltdogs at the plate. Four other Lincoln batters had at least three hits in the game. Starting pitcher Brian Rodaway picked up the win, pitching a complete game shutout and striking out eight along the way. With the win Rodaway's record improves to 6-2 on the season. Sioux City RF Mike Richardson and 3B Ryan Gripp each had a hit to account for all of the Explorers' offense in the losing effort.

Sioux Falls 6, Shreveport 5

1B Abner Arroyo went 2-for-4 with two RBI to lead Sioux Falls past Shreveport 6-5. Relief pitcher Matt Petrusek allowed one run over 1 2/3 innings to pick up the win, his first of the season. Relief pitcher Matt Montgomery allowed one run in the ninth inning to pick up his second save of the year. Despite his team losing, starting pitcher Bert Snow was effective, giving up just three earned runs over six innings while striking out seven. At the plate, Shreveport was led by CF Coby Smith and LF Todd Self, who each homered in the game.

St. Paul 7, St. Joe 6

HR: SJ-Cody Nowlin (4); SP-Brian Buchanan (3)

1B Brian Buchanan went 2-for-4 with a homerun and four RBI to lead St. Paul past St. Joe 7-6. With the four RBI tonight Buchanan has now driven in 13 runs in the last two games. SS Brian Sprout and RF Adam Olow each had three hits in the game to add to the St. Paul attack. Relief pitcher Ivan Hernandez pitched three scoreless innings to pick up the win and improve to 2-0 on the season. Closer Matt Hammons pitched a scoreless ninth to tally his league leading 16th save of the year. St. Joe LF Cody Nowlin went 2-for-4 with a homerun and four RBI to lead the Blacksnakes in the losing effort. The homerun was Nowlin's fourth of the season.
