Lincoln jumps out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and never looks back en route to an 8-4 victory over Sioux Falls. CF Evan Tartaglia led the Saltdogs at the plate as he went 2-for-5 with a run scored and two runs batted in. RF Bryan Warner, LF Cory Harris, and 1B Paul Powell each chipped in with two hits as well to aid in the Lincoln attack. Lincoln starting pitcher Ben Fox collected his sixth victory of the season going five innings giving up an earned run on four hits with two strikeouts. Sioux Falls was led in the losing effort this afternoon by 3B Chris Hall who had a 2-for-4 outing with two runs scored and a run batted in.

St. Paul 7, Shreveport 1

St. Paul used 15 hits to plate seven runs, en route to the easy win. Saints' starting pitcher Charlie Ruud scattered seven hits through 7 1/3 innings. The run he allowed was earned and he struck out three in the game. CF Chad Lytle led the Saints from the leadoff spot, going 4-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI. Lytle doubled three times in the game and SS Brian Sprout was 3-for-5 including his 20th double of the season, third most in the American Association. 3B Pat Scalabrini was also productive at the plate, going 2-for-5, including a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs. Shreveport 1B Al Corbeil was the only Sport to record more than one hit in the loss. He was 2-for-3.

Coastal Bend 11, Pensacola 1

Coastal Bend gave starting pitcher Bryan Heaston all the support he needed, pounding out 11 hits and scored 11 runs en route to a double-digit win. Heaston allowed an earned run on five hits through seven innings of work and struck out four to notch the victory. Heaston's record improves to 4-2 with the win and the Aviators continue their hot start to the second half, improving to 10-2. DH Matt Creighton was 2-for-3 at the plate, including his sixth home run of the season, and he drove in three. Pensacola DH Larry Bethea was 2-for-4 and SS Bo Brown drove in the Pelicans' only run in the losing effort.

El Paso 5, Fort Worth 2

El Paso got a solid performance from starting pitcher David McWatters, who went six innings and scattered nine hits, allowed two earned runs and struck out three to pick up the win. Closer Joslin Ramirez came on to pitch the last 1 1/3 innings and held off a Fort Worth comeback to pick up his seventh save of the year. El Paso 1B Mike Harkins hit two home runs and was 2-for-4 in the game with three RBIs. Fort Worth CF Jordan Foster was 3-for-4 in the losing effort.

Sioux City 8, St. Joe 4

Sioux City starting pitcher Aaron Marsden was solid through six innings, allowing one run, earned, on seven hits to pick up his second win of the season and move Sioux City into the North Division lead. LF Jorge Moreno was 1-for-3 at the plate, including his 12th home run of the season. C Chris Grossman was 2-for-4 for the Explorers and drove in three runs to lead the team at the plate. DH Cody Nowlin and SS Jimmy Mojica each had a pair of hits for St. Joe, the only players on the team to do so in the loss.
