Rockland 11, St. Paul 3
The Rockland Boulders hit double digits in the run column for the second day in a row in interleague play. The Boulders scored two or more runs in five of their eight innings at the plate, including a three-run fourth. Rockland 2B Matt Nandin (pictured) was 4-for-6 in the game, with two RBIs and two runs scored. DH Will Walsh was 1-for-3, but his lone hit was a solo home run in the seventh, coming a day after a two-homer game. C Justin Dalles was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored.
For the Saints, 1B Henry Wrigley homered in the first inning. He was 2-for-4 with two RBIs on the day. Also going 2-for-4 was LF Evan Bigley.
LHP Richard Salazar earned the victory for Rockland, going five innings on the hill with two strikeouts.
Gary SouthShore 9, Kansas City 0 (Doubleheader Game 1- 7 innings)
The Gary SouthShore RailCats rode the arms of RHPs Stephen Bougher and Kagen Hopkins to a 9-0 win in the opener of a twinbill. The two allowed no runs on three hits, and Bougher struck out five in his six and 1/3 innings of work.
Gary's run support came from a four-run third inning and a three-run sixth inning. 3B Wally Backman Jr. hit a two-RBI double in the sixth, part of a 2-for-3, three-RBI game. DH Josh Romanski was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and LF Adam Taylor was 2-for-3 as well for the RailCats. For Kansas City, DH Nick Garraputo had two of his team's three hits.
Bougher improved to 2-0 in three starts with the win.
Gary SouthShore 4, Kansas City 3 (Doubleheader Game 2- 8 innings)
Pinch hitter Craig Maddox hit a walkoff single to score pinch runner Adam Taylor in the bottom of eighth inning and give the RailCats a doubleheader sweep. Taylor was running for 1B Jeremy Hamilton, who reached on an intentional walk following a two base error. After a fielder's choice eliminated the lead runner, Maddox had the chance to be a hero and stepped up.
Gary C Ryan Babineau was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. C Danny Masiello and CF Darrell Hudson collected two hits apiece for Kansas City.
RHP Kevin Brahney earned the win for Gary in relief after working a scoreless top of the eighth.
Sioux City 6, Winnipeg 1
The Sioux City Explorers pounded out 13 hits in a 6-1 road win at Shaw Park against the Winnipeg Goldeyes. RF Peter Barrows got Sioux City on the board with a two-RBI single in the top of the second. 3B Mark Sobolewski collected a two-RBI single of his own in the fifth to extend the lead to 5-0. LF Rene Tosoni hit a solo home run in the eighth to cap off the Sioux City scoring.
SS Nate Samson was 3-for-3 for the Explorers with two runs scored and two walks. Tosoni, Sobolewski and CF Michael Lang all notched two hits. Winnipeg C Jordan Guida had two of his team's four hits.
Sioux City RHP Kohei Tsukada allowed one run on four hits over six innings with five strikeouts, earning a win. His ERA now sits at 0.84.
