Sioux Falls 8, Winnipeg 4
Sioux Falls scored in five different innings en route to an 8-4 win against Winnipeg at Sioux Falls Stadium. The Pheasants scored a run in each of the first and second innings, and then they posted three more in the third when third baseman Trevor Lawhorn and shortstop Joe Anthonsen combined for three RBI. Center fielder Reggie Abercrombie scored from a wild pitch in the fourth, and Sioux Falls took a 6-0 lead. Winnipeg scored four of the next six runs, but it wasn't enough to top the Pheasants. Abercrombie led Sioux Falls with four hits, two runs and one RBI in five at-bats, while third baseman Louis Ott chipped in two hits, two RBI and one run for Winnipeg. Ben Moore, now 13-4 on the season, earned the win by allowing nine hits, three runs and striking out three in five innings pitched.
Grand Prairie 5, Amarillo 2
Grand Prairie scored four runs in the fifth inning alone en route to a 5-2 win against Amarillo at Quik Trip Park. The AirHogs scored in the bottom of the first inning to take an early lead, and after three scoreless innings, Grand Prairie added four more. Danny Figueroa had an RBI-double, and Stephen Douglas followed with an RBI-single. Greg Porter and Cesar Nicolas each had an RBI in the inning, too, and the AirHogs took a 5-0 lead. Amarillo scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning, but it wasn't enough to top Grand Prairie. Josh Rainwater, now 14-6 on the season, earned the win by allowing eight hits, two runs and striking out eight in seven innings pitched.
El Paso 3, Wichita 2
Wichita took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but a three-run fifth frame led El Paso to a 3-2 win against the Wingnuts at Cohen Stadium. Juan Richardson and Jorge Delgado each had an RBI in the first inning for Wichita, and neither team scored in the following three frames. In the bottom of the fifth, however, Maikol Gonzalez and Albenis Machado combined for three RBI to give El Paso the lead. The Diablos held onto it for the remainder of the game, and El Paso cruised to victory. Two different Diablos recorded multiple hits in the game, and center fielder Kory Drew led with two hits and one run in three at-bats. Luis Montano, now 2-5 on the season, earned the win by allowing six hits, two runs and striking out two in six innings pitched.
Fort Worth 14, Shreveport-Bossier 3
After trailing Shrevepor-Bossier, Fort Worth scored 13 runs in the sixth inning alone en route to a 14-3 win against the Captains at LaGrave Field. After three scoreless innings, Shreveport-Bossier got in the board in the top of the fourth when Brian Peterson registered an RBI-single. After the Captains scored another in the top of the sixth, the Cats scored 13 runs on 12 hits in the bottom of the inning, including a three-run homer from Marcos Rodriguez. James Brandhorst, now 2-0 on the season, earned the win by allowing three hits, two runs and striking out six in six innings pitched.
Lincoln 6, Sioux City 2
Alessandra Maestri, now 8-6 on the season, helped fuel Lincoln to a 6-2 win against Sioux City by allowing just four hits and two runs in six innings pitched at Louis & Clark Park. Lincoln got on the board in the top of the first, fourth and sixth innings to take a 4-0 lead against the Explorers, but Sioux City got two of its own in the bottom of the sixth when John Schermerhorn registered two RBI. In the top of the ninth, the Saltdogs added two more runs for good measure, and Lincoln cruised to victory. Left fielder Gavin Dickey chipped in two hits and two runs in three at-bats for the Saltdogs, and Lincoln designated hitter Rafael Alvarez had two hits, two runs and one RBI in the game.
