Fargo-Moorhead 9, Kansas City 3

RedHawks 2B Carlo Cota and 3B C.J. Retherford each batted in two runs to help lead Fargo-Moorhead to a 9-3 home win against the Kansas City T-Bones in front of a capacity-crowd of 4,565 at Newman Outdoor Field. The RedHawks jumped out to an early lead when DH Jesse Hoorelbeke hit an RBI single that scored SS Zach Penprase in the bottom of the first. The RedHawks added three more runs in the second inning on an RBI each from LF Jonathan Wyatt, Penprase and Retherford. In the fifth inning, Cota hit a two-run home run, his thirteenth homer of the season, to give Fargo-Moorhead a 7-3 lead. Cota and Retherford each went 2-for-5 at the plate with two RBIs, and Penprase went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with four runs scored and an RBI. RedHawks starting pitcher Jake Laber earned the win and allowed two earned runs on seven hits in 5.2 innings pitched. Laber struck out eight hitters in the game. T-Bones 3B Kala Kaaihue hit a two-run home run in the loss.

St. Paul 7, Gary SouthShore 4

St. Paul's one through four hitters combined for eight hits, four RBIs and four runs scored as the Saints defeated the Gary SouthShore RailCats 7-4. Saints leadoff hitter 2B Adam Frost went 1-for-3 with a triple and an RBI. Left fielder Aharon Eggleston, who hit in the 2-hole, doubled, scored a run and had an RBI, and the number three hitter, CF Ryan Patterson, had two hits, two runs scored and an RBI. In the cleanup spot, St. Paul DH Ole Sheldon went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with a double, a triple, an RBI and a run scored. Saints 3B Ronnie Bourquin went 2-for-2 with a homer and two RBIs. Saints starting pitcher Todd Mathison worked five innings and earned the win. Mathison allowed two runs on five hits while striking out two hitters. RailCats DH Adam Klein hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth, but Gary SouthShore's comeback fell short.
