Sioux Falls 17, Winnipeg 7
Winnipeg scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning, but Sioux Falls scored in six different frames to come back and top the Goldeyes 17-7 at Shaw Park. In the first inning, third baseman Brian Myrow, designated hitter Jon Weber and first baseman Justin Bass combined to knock in four runs for Winnipeg, and the Goldeyes scored one more in the fourth and two in the fifth. Sioux Falls struck first in the second inning when left fielder Francisco Leandro batted in a run, and the Pheasants added two more in the fourth when center fielder Reggie Abercrombie hit a solo home run and Leandro followed with an RBI triple. After Winnipeg's fifth inning runs, the Pheasants scored the next 14 en route to victory. Leandro led Sioux Falls with four hits, two runs and five RBI in five at-bats, and designated hitter Mark Shorey chipped in three hits and two runs in six at-bats. Myrow led the way for Winnipeg with three hits, one run and one RBI, while Bass and catcher Louis Ott each knocked in two runs. Barry Fowler, now 4-1 on the season, earned the win by allowing nine hits, seven runs and striking out one in five innings pitched.
