St. Louis Ambush News Release
St. Charles, MO - In a game that saw more than it's share of controversy, the St. Louis Ambush saw a four-goal lead evaporate in a 9-8 overtime loss to the Wichita B-52s Saturday night at the Family Arena. The back-and-forth duel saw the two teams tied 3-3 at the halftime break. St. Louis scored four consecutive goals in the third quarter to pull away from Wichita with a 7-3 lead. Wichita then outscored the Ambush 5-1 in the fourth quarter. With the clock running out and the Ambush ahead 8-7, Abel Sebele's shot found the back of the net as the clock hit zero. Alex Moseley scored the game winner at 1:04 of the sudden-death overtime period.
The game, particularly in the second half, was marked by numerous disputes between Ambush players and referee Rich Grady. After the game, Ambush head coach Daryl Doran, who is usually a cool-headed presence on the bench, had an animated discussion with Grady, as did team owner Andrew Haines. Moseley had a four-goal night for the B-52s, Kevin Ten Eyck had three tallies, and Brady Bryant and Sebele each contributed a goal. Boris Pardo took the win in goal for Wichita, making 24 saves. The win improved Wichita's record to 8-6.
Adnan Gabeljic, Gordy Gurson and Elvir Kafedzic each had two goals for the Ambush. Corey Adamson and Blake Ordell contributed one each. Kevin Gorby took his first professional loss in goal for St. Louis with 18 saves. Next up for the Ambush back-to-back road games next weekend. On Friday, January 30, the Ambush visit the Harrisburg Heat, then travel to Detroit the next night to battle the Waza Flo. The Ambush return home to the Family Arena on Friday, February 6 when they host the Missouri Comets.
