St. Louis Ambush News Release
St. Charles, MO - The St. Louis Ambush (2-4) are in action this weekend with back-to-back games on the road and at home. On Saturday, December 27, the Ambush travel to Hoffman Estates, IL to battle the Chicago Mustangs (4-4) at 7:05 p.m. at Sears Centre, then return home to the Family Arena to host the San Diego Sockers (6-1) at 6:35 p.m. Sunday, December 28. Saturday's clash with the Mustangs is the rubber match in the best-of-three series between St. Louis and Chicago during the regular season. The Mustangs prevailed in the first battle when they handed the Ambush an 8-3 defeat November 15 at the Family Arena. The second meeting was November 22 at Sears Centre, where St. Louis earned an 8-7 win. The Mustangs currently occupy third place in the MASL Central Division, with the Ambush just one game behind them.
On Sunday, the Ambush square off with the 14-time league champion San Diego Sockers for the first time at the Family Arena. The Sockers presently are in first place in the MASL Pacific Division. Like the Ambush, the Sockers also play a pair of games this weekend. They collide with the Missouri Comets on Saturday night in Independence before coming east to face the Ambush on Sunday.
Sunday's match also marks the return to the Family Arena of Dan Antoniuk, who appeared in 17 games for the Ambush last season.
The December 28 contest will feature the Second Annual Mascot Soccer game at halftime, featuring Bushwhacker, Mak Attack, Fredbird, Louie from the Blues, Rampage from the Rams, plus several other mascots from local pro teams, colleges, and businesses. Fans can take picture with the mascots on the concourse before the game. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
College and High School students who show a valid Student I.D. can get a buy one, get one free ticket deal for Sunday's game at the Family Arena box office on Sunday or by stopping by the Ambush office between 9 a.m. and noon on Wednesday, December 24, and Friday, December 26 from 9 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Following Sunday's duel against the Sockers, the Ambush are back in action next Saturday, January 3 at 7:35 p.m., when the cross-state rival Missouri Comets invade the Family Arena for the first time this season.
