Allentown Ambassadors News Release
The Allentown Ambassadors gave up nine runs in the fourth inning to Quebec les Capitales and lost the game 13-6 Sunday night in Quebec.
Each team got a run in the first inning, with Garret Larkin scoring on a Marlon Roche single and Osmani Garcia hitting a solo home run for Quebec.
Each team also scored in the third. Vic Davilla scored on a Greg Schmidt double for the Ambassadors, who left the bases loaded in the inning. Quebec would get two runs, Benoit Emond scoring on a Carlos Rodriguez single, who scored on a Pappy Ndungidi single.
That set the stage for the fourth. John Boker had started the game for the Ambassadors, with team shorthanded in the pitching department. He began the fourth by hitting Asdrubal Oropeza, then gave up four straight hits: a single to John Ballon, an RBI single from Emond, a RBI double from Rafael Pujols, and a single from Garcia. Rodriguez then hit a groundball to short that might have been a double play, but Jason Williams could not field it in time to record an out anywhere. The first out of the inning finally came when Eddie Lantigua grounded into a fielder's choice with Rodriguez out at second. Ndungidi then walked to load the bases, and Carlos Gomez came in. He struck out Galindo Gomez, but then hit Oropeza to force in a run, gave up a three run double to Ballon, and an RBI single to Emond. Finally Pujols struck out to end the inning. Quebec sent 13 men to the plate in all, scoring nine runs, four of them earned.
Quebec cruised the rest of the way, with each team adding a few runs, the Ambassadors getting two on a monster two run home run by Brian Macchi to left field, his third of the season. Quebec ended up winning the game 13-6. Antwoine Anderson got the win, he is now 1-3 on the season. Boker took the loss and is now 1-4. The Ambassadors fall to a season low 15 games under .500 and are 15-30 in the second half. Quebec improves to 28-15. The two teams play the final game of the season tomorrow afternoon, with pitching coach Rafael Valdez having to pitch for the Ambassadors, since John Dillinger is out with an injured ankle.
