Allentown Ambassadors News Release

The Allentown Ambassadors lost their final home game of the season 11-6 to Quebec les Capitales Saturday night in Allentown.

Quebec scored a run in the first inning off Ambassador starter Chris Kelly and added four more in the third. Steve Booker began the third with a single, then Osmani Garcia reached on a fielder's choice, with Booker out at second. Back-to-back singles from Carlos Rodriguez and Eddie Lantigua followed, with Garcia scoring on Lantigua's hit. Pappy Ndungidi then hit a three run home run over the right field wall to make it 5-0.

The Ambassadors got a run in the third, with a Cedrick Harris single driving in Kevin Moore, but Quebec scored a run in the fifth to make the lead five again. The Ambassadors would get within a run by scoring four in the bottom of the fifth off Quebec starter Jordy Alexander. A single from Garrett Larkin to start the inning followed by an RBI double from Kevin Moore and a single from Jason Williams, then a sacrifice fly from Harris got the first two runs home. Jorge Diaz struck out, but Vic Davilla doubled to score Williams and Greg Schmidt followed with an RBI single to pull the Ambassadors within a run.

It would be short-lived. Quebec responded with five runs in the sixth. Benoit Emond, pinch hitting for Garcia, began the inning with a walk, then after Rodriguez grounded out, five straight hits from Quebec drove in three. A Lantigua double and Galindo Gomez double sandwiched around singles from Ndungidi and Rafael Pujols drove John Boker out of the game. John Ballon singled off reliever Justin Keeling, then Asdrubal Oropeza hit a sacrifice fly to open up the lead to six.

The Ambassadors got a run in the bottom of the sixth, but that would be all the scoring they would get the rest of the way. Dan Marchetti got the win in relief, he is 3-3, while Kelly took the loss. He is now 4-4. Ndungidi and Lantigua each had three RBI, while Kevin Moore had three hits and an RBI for the Ambassadors. Ambassadors owner Peter Karoly took two at-bats and struck out twice, making contact with the ball once. The Ambassadors fall to 14-25 with the loss, while Quebec improves to 23-14. The Ambassadors have the next two days off before starting the final road trip of the season Tuesday night in Bangor.
