Ambassadors Beaten 5-1 by Brockton

The Allentown Ambassadors had their three game winning streak broken and lost 5-1 to the Brockton Rox Tuesday night in Brockton.

The Rox got out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Nestor Smith began the inning with a single off John Dillinger, then stole second. Mike Davis then hit an infield single, and Saul Bustos then reached on a fielder's choice, with Smith scoring to make it 1-0.

The Ambassadors tied the game in the top of the fifth inning. Jason Williams began the inning with a walk off Rox starter Scott Martin. Kevin Moore then bunted him to to second base. After Cedrick Harris struck out, Ender Gonzalez singled home Williams.

The Rox would take back the lead in the bottom of the fifth. Jake Daubert led off with a single, and was at second base with two outs when Saul Bustos singled him home. Brockton got another run off of Dillinger in the sixth when Daubert singled home Mel Rosario. Daubert finished the game 3-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

The Rox got two more off Jose Guerrero in the seventh to stretch their lead to 5-1. The Ambassadors would load the bases in the eighth with two outs, but Jason Williams flied out off Conor Brooks to end the threat. Brooks pitched a three batter ninth to end the game.

Martin got the win, pitching six innings and allowing one run on three hits. He walked four and struck out eight. He is now 6-4. Dillinger got the loss, he is 6-6. Brooks got the save, he has 16 saves now this season. The two teams play the rubber game of the series tomorrow night, with Mike Riley pitching for the Ambassadors.
