Allentown first baseman Vic Davilla and Elmira right-hander Hatuey Mendoza have been named the Daktronics Northeast League Players of the Week on for the period ending Sunday, Aug. 10.

Davilla went 10-for-28 (.357) with five runs, one double, three home runs, 11 RBIs, a .714 slugging percentage and a .367 on-base percentage during the week. He went 2-for-4 in four games, 1-for-4 in two games and 0-for-4 in one game during the week.

Davilla, 30, spent 1993-96 in the Toronto farm system and is in his seventh year in the Northeast League. He ranks as the all-time Northeast League hit, doubles and RBI leader and needs two home runs to surpass the record 70 career Northeast League home runs set by Jon Mueller for Albany-Colonie and Adirondack.

Mendoza, 25 from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, went 2-0 with an 0.64 earned run average in 14 innings last week. He allowed 13 hits, two runs, one earned run, two walks and struck out 12 at Allentown and North Shore.

Mendoza spent five years in the Arizona system and reached Double-A El Paso before being selected in the Rule 5 minor league draft by Anaheim on Dec. 13, 2001. He played at Double-A Arkansas in 2002, was released by the Angels and signed with Elmira
