Amarillo Venom News Release
Amarillo,TX 9/19/11- The Amarillo Venom visited the Spearman Lynx pep-rally last Friday September 16, to present them with their Favorite Local Cheer Squad certificate. The Spearman Lynx cheer squad received 430 votes, winning the contest that was held on the new Amarillo Venom Facebook page. Second place went to the Panhandle Panthers cheer with 324 votes.
"Having the support of the Amarillo surrounding area has been great," said Owner/General Manager Stephanie Tucker. "We are looking forward to the upcoming season and working with the surrounding area communities to come out to the games and join us at the events we are planning throughout the year."
Amarillo Venom players Donta Bright and Darrius Battles traveled to Spearman Friday afternoon to attend the Lynx pep-rally held at the Lynx Football Stadium. Striker also made an appearance competing with Louie Lynx in a Punt, Pass, and Kick competition. The Spearman Lynx cheer squad was also presented with a framed picture of the squad with the title of Favorite Local Cheer squad and autographed by the Venom Players.
Bright and Battles each gave a warming pep talk to the team before tossing Venom prizes to students in the stands. Students and Staff of the Spearman High School were welcoming of the Amarillo Venom players and staff. After the pep-rally the Amarillo Venom players and Striker were available for pictures and autographs.
"Thanks for allowing Darrius and myself to have a good time in Lynx country!" said Bright. "We appreciate the hospitality we received and hope to see Lynx fans at Amarillo Venom games."
The Spearman Lynx travelled to Stinnett Friday night beating the West Texas Comanche's 31 to 14.
The AMARILLO VENOM is a proud member of the Indoor Football League.
