Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
The Shreveport Mudbugs (8-7-1) fell short to the Amarillo Bulls in a tension-filled contest by the final score of 3-2 in the shootout Saturday night at the Amarillo Civic Center.
After trailing 2-0 early in the game, the Mudbugs fought hard late in the 1st period and got a big goal back. Anton Rubtsov tucked in the rebound for his third goal of the year assisted by Gueorgui Feduolov and David Breazeale at 19:36. Amarillo led in SOG, 15-13 and led 2-1 after one period of play.
The Bugs carried the momentum they gained late in the 1st period and tied the game up at 2 at 5:07 of the 2nd period. Joel Frazee took off on a breakaway shorthanded and powered home his first goal of the year. Feduolov earned the only assist on the goal. There were lots of fights and frays in the middle frame as Amarillo led in SOG, 30-20 after two periods of play.
The game stayed tied 2-2 all the way to the shootout when Logan Jenuwine scored the goal to lift Amarillo over Shreveport, 3-2.
Leo Chuard made 46 saves in a tough luck loss for him.
The Mudbugs will continue their longest road stretch of the season next weekend as they'll venture out to North Richland Hills, TX to take on the Lone Star Brahmas for the first time this season. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 for both Friday and Saturday night. ?
